Wheel Tooling

Inside the Punch tab, navigate to the ‘Wheel Tooling’ icon.

You must first create a MetaCAM tool that models the wheel tool. To do this, create an Obround tool inside the Tool Library using a width representative of the wheel tool.

Then, in the Tool Editor dialogue, switch to the Advanced page, and turn on the Wheel Tooling option in the Other settings list.

Mount this obround tool in an indexing station inside your turret.

Save the turret as default.

This wheel tooling can then be placed on closed or open polylines. You will see your wheel tool inside the catalogue when selecting the wheel tool icon.

When creating these polylines, try not to have any sharp corners; fillet all the corners so they are tangential, and keep the radii more than the smallest radius that the wheel tool can cut or form. Tooling can be placed by clicking on these polylines; the closest corner to the point where you click on becomes the starting corner for the tooling.
