Rollbend Dies

Below, we can see a sample Rollbend Die DXF drawing. An origin reference point will need to be placed at the mounting point on the side profile of the tool.

Roll-bend die is called a wing die. When defining this die, draw the fixed part of the die in layer 0. Draw the left wing in layer 1 (this is in red in the picture below) and the right wing in layer 2 (this is green in colour in the picture below).

The following text entities are required for a Rollbend Die:

NAME – This is the name given for the tool.

TONNAGE – This is the tonnage of the tool in kN.

LOWER- This is the Lower Die valency of the tool.

PIECES – These are the required tool lengths. These are separated by a comma, and if more than one is required, we can use a multiplier to specify the value required.

FLAVOR=WingDie – This marks the tool as a Wing/Rollbend tool.

PARAMS – This text provides some metrics that are required for the correct simulation of the wings, shown as A and B in the image above. See below for further explanation of the PARAMS.

HEIGHT – This is the overall height of the tool, measured from the mounting point to the top of the die.

RADIUS – This is the inner radius of the tool.

ANGLE – This is the angle of the tool.

V-WIDTH – This is the width of the inner V for the tool.

CANFLIP – If the tool can be flipped when mounted, this should be set to 1.

GROUP – This can be used to specify the tool group that this tool would belong to. In this case, it is Rollbend.

PARAMS Explanation

There are two parameters defining the movement of the wing-bend pieces.

A – The first parameter is the horizontal distance from the centre line of the die to the centre point of rotation of one of the wings. This is shown as A in the picture above.

B – The second parameter is the vertical distance from the bottom of the die to the centre point of rotation of the wings. This is shown as B in the picture above. Normally, B and Height will be the same.
